How to Retrieve an Already Watched Whatsapp Status- Android Users Only
Did you know that everytime you view or watch a status on Whatsapp, Whatsapp stores it on your phone?
Whatsapp downloads everything you watch on your phone with the exception of statuses which were typed by users in the type a status section. What Whatsapp downloads are stored temporarily in a folder and are usually deleted after 2 to 3 days so as to make way for new statuses you will watch. This folder comprises of videos and pictures in a haphazard manner. So finding a particular image or video you watched at a particular time will involve a little patience.
To retrieve what you've watched on Whatsapp, all you'll need is a file manager, luckily almost every android devices come with a file manager. Navigate to your file manager and make sure the view hidden folders is checked or active else we cannot view the folder whatsapp stores our statuses in. If that is done, you then navigiate to your internal storage in the file manager, Internal storage because most users have their Whatsapp installed on their internal storage so everything Whatsapp does will be found in the internal memory of the device. If your device is rooted and your whatsapp might not be in the internal memory but on the external memory so you simply navigate to your external storage instead.
From there, navigate to a folder called "Whatsapp", After tapping you'll see a folder called ".Status". It is called ".Status" because android is basically a linux operating system, hence the behaviours and characteristics are the same. A typical example of a linux operating system (O.S) is MacOs (What Apple Computers run) and another is Ubuntu (A free Linux O.S for computers), Linux has simply this rule that states that files that want to be kept hidden must begin with the character dot (".") before the name of the file follows, that's Linux rule. Hence that explains why the folder name (.Status) begun with the character dot and why we had to be sure in the file manager had it view hidden folder was active or checked correct!
Once you open that folder, all the statuses you viewed or watched from a day or two to date will be there. You can choose to do whatever you want to do with it, you can choose to use it as your status or move the file(s) you want from there to a different location since Whatsapp stores the files there temporarily. The files dont stau there forever
